The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has announced the implementation of Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP) authentication for its Electronic Premium Remittance System (EPRS), effective June 3, 2025. This new security measure, outlined in PhilHealth Advisory No. 2025-0032, builds on the earlier announcement in Advisory No. 2025-0008 and aims to bolster user authentication and protect EPRS accounts.

What is TOTP Authentication?

TOTP authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to enter a unique, time-sensitive code in addition to their standard login credentials. This code, generated through a TOTP app or device, ensures that only authorized users can access the EPRS, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access.

Why This Change Matters

The introduction of TOTP authentication reflects PhilHealth’s commitment to safeguarding user accounts and enhancing the overall security of the EPRS. By adopting this industry-standard security practice, PhilHealth aims to provide peace of mind to all EPRS users while ensuring the integrity of the system.

What EPRS Users Need to Know

Starting June 3, 2025, all EPRS users will need to input a TOTP code alongside their usual username and password to log in. To support this transition:

A user guide will be distributed through PhilHealth Accounts Information Management Specialists (PAIMS) to help users set up and use TOTP authentication.

For any questions or assistance with TOTP setup, users are encouraged to reach out to their Accounts Officer or visit the nearest Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO).

How to Prepare

EPRS users are advised to familiarize themselves with the TOTP process ahead of the implementation date. Ensure you have access to a TOTP-compatible app (such as Google Authenticator or Authy) and stay tuned for the user guide from PAIMS for step-by-step instructions.

PhilHealth’s Commitment to Security

PhilHealth thanks all EPRS users for their cooperation in adopting this enhanced security measure. By working together to implement TOTP authentication, we can ensure a safer and more secure experience for everyone using the EPRS.
