How SSS Pension is Calculated
The Social Security System uses an official formula to calculate monthly retirement pensions. Understanding this formula helps you plan better for your retirement and make informed decisions about your contributions.
Official SSS Pension Formula
Your monthly pension is calculated as the higher of these two amounts:
Formula 1: Computed Pension
₱300 + (20% × AMSC) + (2% × AMSC × (CYS - 10)) + ₱1,000
Formula 2: Minimum Pension Guarantee
- ₱1,200 if you have at least 10 credited years of service
- ₱2,400 if you have at least 20 credited years of service
Key Terms Explained
Average Monthly Salary Credit (AMSC) This is calculated by dividing the sum of your last 60 monthly salary credits by 60, or by dividing the sum of all your monthly salary credits by the number of contributions paid, whichever is higher.
Credited Years of Service (CYS) The total number of years you have paid SSS contributions. This includes years as an employee, self-employed member, or voluntary member.
Additional Benefits
- ₱1,000 Monthly Allowance: Added to all SSS pensions as additional benefit
- 13th Month Pension: Paid every December
- Dependent’s Pension: Additional benefits for qualified dependents
2025 SSS Contribution Updates
Starting January 2025, the SSS contribution rate increased to 15% of your Monthly Salary Credit:
- Employee Share: 5%
- Employer Share: 10%
- MSC Range: ₱5,000 to ₱35,000
